What a fantastic weekend! I hosted the Winter 2012 Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat in Canmore, Alberta at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn. I thought you may be interested in what our projects were. Here are some pics. If you are interested in making this fabulous folder and/or mini album (can also be a coupon book, etc), please let me know!I am using the folders (I made 2 of them) for my daughters school report cards, pics, artwork, and more! It's a great way to keep those items in a tidy and beautiful way! I am using the mini album in my purse for organizing coupons and other papers I refer to often.

Do you love to read? I do! I love it! Sometimes when I am reading a really good book I can't stop! I will read it until the wee hours of the morning. It's a sickness (kind of a good one I guess)! My girls and hubby love to read too. I am curious. What types of books do you love to read? I love fiction, history, non-fiction, travel books, magazines, human resources reference books, and self-help. Do you have a favorite author? What are you reading right now? I am looking for a new book to read. I love learning and growing as a person. I would love to hear from you!

My family and I had a fantastic Christmas with many family and friends. I hope you did too!

With a new year upon us, goal setting and making resolutions are part of that. What are some of your goals for 2012? Have you made any resolutions? If you have, I encourage you to make them SMART.
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achievable
R - Realistic
T - Time-bound

When you take the time to make your goals SMART, you are much more likely to achieve them!

Some of my goals this year including not procrastinating in filing my paperwork (one of my least favorite jobs), setting aside time to paper craft and try some new techniques, making walking, jogging or getting to the gym a priority, and earning Close to My Heart's 2013 cruise!

I hope all of you had a fantastic and safe Labour Day weekend! Our family had a wonderful weekend. While we got quite a bit accomplished - our girls are all ready for the first day of school tomorrow - we also had a relaxing time as well! We went on a hike in the new Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. Do you love summer storms (as long as they're not too scary - eg) tornadoes)? I do! Tonight we had one that was quite impressive! Huge black clouds with thunder and lightning and some hail. The hail first started as small marble size and hard but quickly turned to smaller softer hail - thank goodness!

Memory Poem

It's been about 5 1/2 months since my Mom passed away and 13 1/2 months since my Uncle Mark passed away. Some days are still really difficult. Tonight I found this quote that I want to share with you:

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones look down to let us know they are happy.

I love that. I think I will use it on a scrapbook page soon.

This past Saturday some team members and I had a great time at my Create & Play Day at my house. We used old and new stamping and scrapbooking techniques to make some embossed cards, samples with Liquid Applique and Fun Flock and more! Here are some samples of Close to My Heart's colonial white round cards, different embossing powders and stamp sets, including Backgrounds & Borders and Delight. The embossing powders used include White Pearl (my favorite), white and black.

Royal Wedding Excitement!

Hi everyone!

Today was a special day. I got up and watched the Royal Wedding! Did you? I am curious to know how many of you did. Pop me a comment to let me know - I'd love to hear from you!

Since I was a little girl I have been interested in the royal family. You can ask my sisters - I collected articles and magazines when Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married - I still have them too. And to keep up with my tradition I will go out tomorrow seeking the UK newspapers, magazines, etc - if you have any tips on where I can find them I would really appreciate it! I think part of the reason is because my Mom and I shared that interest. When Prince Charles and Princess Diana got married I was a young girl and we watched that Royal Wedding together. Today I shared that experience with my 2 daughters. They got up happily to watch the Royal Wedding with me.

Mom's been gone for almost 3 months already and part of the reason for getting up at 2:30 am this morning to watch the Royal Wedding live was because when William and Kate got engaged Mom was really excited for them and their wedding day; I wanted to share this with her. All the while I was watching I told my 2 daughters (who are 11 and 9 years old) that Oma (Dutch word for Grandmother) would love this or that part. That brought tears to my eyes - Mom would have loved the boys and mens choir, the hymns, the orchestra, the new couple on the balconey. Mom - I think you got a great view of the Royal Wedding today.... And the other part of the reason was to carry on this Royal Wedding watching tradition. Watching it together with my 2 girls is a moment to remember - the effect on them was the same as I had when I watched Prince Charles and Princess Diana get married 30 years ago - feeling of love, joy, hope and of course the belief in fairy tales.

I apologize for being away from my blog for so long.

My Mom, who was such an inspiration to me and everyone who met her, and who made time for anyone and everyone, passed away and went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 10, 2011. I was very blessed to be with her, my Dad and sisters.

Mom picked the following poem for the back of her memorial pamphlet:

Good evening!

It was a fantastic weekend in Salt Lake City at Close to My Heart's Team Builders Conference! I have to say that one thing I enjoyed was the weather - about 0 degrees Celsius - way better than what I came home to yesterday which was -28 degrees Celsius. BRRRRR!

It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas!

I hope everyone is keeping warm! Brrr.... it sure has been cold in Alberta the last couple days - 38 degrees Celsius with wind chill. But we are hardy people - the kids still went to school and I went to work. 2 1/2 hour commute each way but it could be worse. Now the chinook wind has picked up and we are expecting a high of -3 degrees Celsius tomorrow!

Fall Layouts from Fall Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat

We had a blast at the Fall 2010 Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat at the Blackstone Mountain Lodge in Canmore a couple weekends ago! Again, thank you to everyone who attended! I hope you will join me at the Winter 2011 Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn from February 11 - 13, 2010. Email me for more details.

Here are the pics of the the layouts we made! As you can see on the last 2 pictures we used the new 12" Flip Flaps! They are so much fun and a great way to add additional photos and/or journaling to your pages. They are also great to make mini scrapbooks.

Close to My Heart Advisory Board Retreat

It is beautiful here in Park City, Utah! I am here for the Advisory Board Retreat. I arrived on Tuesday and leave today. The trees are turning orange and red - we don't get that where I live, usually it snows first and the leaves get wet, they dry up and get crunchy and then the wind picks up and the leaves are gone - so this is a real treat! I promise to post some scenery pics when I get home.

Good evening everyone!

It's been a while since I've blogged! Life has been extremely busy but good.

The last few weekends have been filled with weddings, my 20th year High School Reunion, birthdays and landscaping. We moved in our house just over 2 years ago and I really miss having a yard. We have been busy landscaping our yard using the fantastic plan that OnGrowing Works did for us! It's looking great - I love our trees! And now hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and we can sod either this weekend or next weekend!

Fall 2010 Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat

Hi everyone!

In response to many of your inquiries, I have been working with the Blackstone Mountain Lodge in Canmore for our next Scrap 'n Stamp Retreat. I have tentatively booked this beautiful lodge for our retreat from October 22 - 24, 2010. In order to make this happen, I need to fill 30 spots! This is an exclusive event since space is very limited and will fill quickly.

With contemporary design, upscale amenities and spacious, beautifully appointed guest suites, this Canmore accommodation offers an elevated mountain getaway. The prices also includes a surprise scrapbooking project and your own beautiful scrapbooking space which has fantastic natural light. There is also a kitchen just off the meeting room that can be used. It includes a fridge and microwave. This is a great value!
